Our Commitment to You and the Environment
At Jonathan Stevens, we know how important it is for you to have a healthy home—not just for healthy sleep, but for other areas of your lifestyle and wellbeing. Many customers ask about things like indoor air quality and what materials our mattresses feature. Now, more than ever, it is important for reputable retailers like us to inform our customers of our commitment to the environment through green practices and with the use of eco-friendly components.
You'll see in our individual lines that we are often able to use all-natural latex, organic cotton, and other substances that are certified as lower in chemicals—something many people now consider as they furnish their homes. Our high-density foam is certified by CertiPUR-US to be low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) for better indoor air quality, and is made without ozone depleters, without PBDE flame retardants, without mercury, lead, or other heavy metals, and contains no formaldehyde or phthalates.
The adhesive that we use is a water-based adhesive, so the advantage is that it’s very environment-friendly. It’s a simple product, and it doesn’t have a strong odor. It has virtually no odor, so when you get the mattress in your house there isn't a chemical smell. On top of being environmentally friendly, it’s also one of the strongest glues on the market. It's flexible, but won't peel away as you continue to enjoy the mattress long into the future.
In addition to our innovative materials, Jonathan Stevens is proud to recycle 95% of our waste, including recycling cardboard, foam, and fabric.
As we continue to be industry-leaders in our environmental commitment, we will update our customers on our initiatives and the additional care we take as we provide West Michigan with a better way to buy a mattress.
