ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Committed to You and Our  Environment

At Jonathan Stevens, we know how important it is for you to have a healthy home, not just for healthy sleep, but for other areas of your lifestyle and well-being. Many customers ask about things like indoor air quality and what materials our mattresses are made out of.  Now, more than ever, it is important for reputable manufacturers and retailers like us to inform our customers of our commitment to the environment through green manufacturing practices and the use of eco-friendly components.

You'll see in our individual lines that we use only foams that pass the highest levels of safety constraints and other substances that are certified as lower in chemicals—something many people now consider as they furnish their homes. Our high-density foams are all certified by CertiPUR-US to be low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) for better indoor air quality, and made without ozone depleting substances, without PBDE flame retardants, without mercury, lead, or other heavy metals, and without formaldehyde or phthalates.

The adhesive that we use is a water-based adhesive, so the advantage is that it’s very environment-friendly compared to some of the other harsh adhesives used by other mattress companies.  It’s a simple product and has virtually no odor, so when you get the mattress in your house there isn't a chemical smell. On top of being environmentally friendly, it’s also one of the strongest glues on the market. It's flexible, but won't deteriorate and crack as you continue to enjoy the mattress long into the future.

In addition to our innovative materials, Jonathan Stevens is proud to recycle most of our waste, including recycling cardboard, foam, and fabric.

As we continue to be industry-leaders in our environmental commitment, we will update our customers on our initiatives and the additional care we take as we provide West Michigan with a better way to buy a mattress.
