One of the most important characteristics of latex is the density of the latex foam. This is the basic measurement of quality. Latex foam, after it is manufactured, is a combination of material and air. If you weigh a piece of latex that is a cubic foot and the scale shows it weighs two pounds, then it has a density of 2.0#. The higher the number, the more material and less air that is in the foam. Good latex will have a density starting at around 2.5#. In some models, Jonathan Stevens Mattress uses 4.0# latex or better. Remember, the higher the number, the higher the density of the foam and the better it will be for comfort and durability.
In our SensuRest line of mattresses, we exclusively use a Talalay processed, all-natural latex to provide a more durable and more comfortable sleeping surface. We value the use of natural latex because it not only contributes a unique elasticity and flexibility to the end product for a more comfortable and more durable mattress, but it also supports ecological and durable production.
The excellent elasticity of the latex sleeping surface allows for free, natural body movements of the sleeper while providing excellent conformity to the body. The latex mattress will adapt to body contours while keeping the spinal column in good alignment regardless of if the sleeper is lying on their back, side, or stomach.
